Weekly trailer roundup 17/07

The biggest, most exciting new movie and TV trailers this week.

We live in a golden age of entertainment, with great new movies and TV shows being released all the time. There’s so much, in fact, that it can be hard to keep track of what’s coming, and what to get excited about.

With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of the biggest and best trailers released this week, featuring everything from gothic teenagers to body hopping kids and a whole horde of demogorgons.

Movies

Hoppers

In cinemas 6th March 2026

It’s always exciting when Pixar comes out with a new idea, and this one looks like the highest of high concepts. Basically, scientists invent a way to insert a human consciousness into an artificial animal body, so that the human can communicate with the animal world.

Yes,this hilarious teaser points out, it’s just like Avatar.

There’s some really fun stuff here, especially in a scene between a bear and a beaver, and, let’s be honest, Pixar rarely misses. Colour us excited.

After the Hunt

In cinemas October

One of the most prolific directors working today, Luca Guadagnino (Challengers) returns with yet another tense psychological drama, this time set in a prestigious university.

Julia Roberts plays a renowned professor who must reckon with her own past when something horrible happens between two of her proteges. Guadagnino’s films are always interesting, and this one looks like it’ll dig into some really knotty issues.

Plus it’s got a banging cast, including Andrew Garfield (We Live in Time), Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) and Michael Stuhlbarg (The Shape of Water).

Mortal Kombat 2

In cinemas 24th October

Remember the Mortal Kombat movie? No, not that one. The one that came out in 2021 starring Lewis Tan and Josh Lawson.

Yeah, we barely remember it too, but someone clearly did as it’s getting a sequel this autumn - and this time Karl Urban (The Boys) is getting in on the fun! This teaser doesn’t show much of the actual film, instead showing us a fake trailer for a movie starring Urban’s Johnny Cage.

And honestly… we kind of wish it was a real movie.

TV Shows

Stranger Things

Season 5 on Netflix this Winter

“Let’s end this, kid.”

It’s been approximately 25 years since the end of Season 4, but this autumn Stranger Things will finally - FINALLY - return. This teaser thankfully doesn’t give away too much of the plot, but it’s absolutely stuffed with action, emotion and demogorgons. Everything you want in Stranger Things, really.

Volume 1 (Netflix really likes splitting things into multiple parts) will be unleashed on 26th November, Volume 2 at Christmas and the grand finale, which is sure to be epic, will drop on New Years Eve. What a way to round off 2025!

Wednesday

Season 2 Part 1 on Netflix from 6th August

It’s been so long since the first season of Wednesday that the young actor playing Pugsley Addams has grown about four feet. But nevertheless, it’ll be fun to return to the world of Tim Burton’s reimagined Addams Family.

Just like Season 1, this installment is set primarily at spooky boarding school Nevermore Academy which, like Hogwarts before it, seems to be riddled with witches, werewolves and all manner of supernatural beasties.

Look, Jenna Ortega was born to play Wednesday Addams, so this’ll be worth a watch for her performance alone.
