Our Disney Plus review
Launching in March 2020 in the UK and Ireland, Disney Plus is a worthy addition to the gargantuan streaming services already available to consumers across the globe. After some considerable viewing time, we thought we'd offer our thoughts on what we think about Disney Plus.
Disney Plus: What do I get for my money?
All content on Disney Plus is available for as little as £7.99 a month, and with that price comes the ability to be able to stream on four devices simultaneously, while being able to make up to seven user profiles in order to keep family viewing separate.
Disney Plus has divided its content into sections so viewers can find what they want to watch with ease. Customers can pick from one of five logos at the top - Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic - to navigate content seamlessly without having to trawl through hundreds of thumbnails.
Almost every movie under the Marvel Cinematic Universe is available on Disney Plus, along with the entire Star Wars Skywalker Saga and Pirates of the Caribbean Collection. Thousands of other well-known movies and series are also available, such as Avatar, the hugely successful Mandalorian and the entire Simpsons collection. Altogether, there's a plethora of movies and television series to keep you entertained, both old and new.
All in all, the playback of content feels extremely smooth and well polished, with a user-interface that doesn't clog up the screen when you want to pause, fast forward or rewind. Subtitles have also been available on all the content we have watched so far. However, the smoothness of your streaming playback is dependent on internet connection, so we recommend having fibre broadband for the best Disney Plus experience.
Disney Plus: How often is new content uploaded?
It might be a common misconception that Disney Plus is just full of older content, meaning it will rarely become updated with fresh stuff to watch, however, this certainly isn't the case.
Since its launch in the US back in November 2019, Disney Plus has seen new releases occur almost every week, so customers hesitant at the platform's ability to keep content ticking over needn't be. Members of Disney Plus can enjoy older content while also looking forward to exciting new exclusives.
Disney Plus: Can I watch it on other devices?
As expected, the Disney Plus app is available for download across all your devices; tablets, laptops, phones, smart TVs and smart sticks. You'll also be able to watch your favourite TV shows and movies in 4K definition providing you have a television capable.
Disney Plus has also enabled users to download any television series or movie, and store it within the app for you to watch on the go without internet connection. As it stands, the option to download is only available on the iOS or Android app, but those who own these platforms will rejoice in having zero download restrictions, unlike other streaming platforms out there.
