Get ready for a new season of must-see movies! As usual Sky Cinema has an incredible line-up on the horizon, and we’ve put together a sneak peek at what to expect.
From blockbuster premieres to hidden gems, here’s your first look at the biggest and best films landing on Sky Cinema in the months ahead.
The blockbusters

Let’s start with the big ones. If you’re an action fanatic Sky Cinema’s got you covered this winter with Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, the latest (and possibly last) film in the long-running spy series.
Following directly on from Dead Reckoning, this installment sees superspy Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) continue his fight against a rogue AI known as The Entity - an impossible mission that will take Hunt and his team to the ends of the earth.
As you might expect in a Mission film, there’s some mindblowing stunts in this one - all performed by Cruise himself, of course - in edge-of-your seat setpieces that range from the bottom of the ocean to a series-best acrobatic climax on biplanes in the skies above South Africa.
Want something a bit less action-packed? On the other end of the spectrum, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy might be exactly what you’re looking for.
The fourth film in the beloved series - based on Helen Fielding’s most recent sequel novel - brings us up to date in the life of diarist Bridget Jones (Renée Zellweger). Following a tragic loss, Bridget must navigate life and love as a single mother.
Expect tears and laughs in equal measure.
Critically acclaimed & award-worthy

It’s still a little early in the year for awards movies, but that doesn’t mean you have to settle for big summer blockbusters. Sky Cinema usually has some more thought-provoking stuff available, for those tired of CGI explosions.
Steven Soderbergh returns with taut spy thriller Black Bag, which sees an intelligence operative (Michael Fassbender) tasked with investigating a list of potential double agents - including his own wife (Cate Blanchett).
This is much more of a stripped-back, paranoid spy movie - more George Smiley than James Bond - and you can expect plenty of twists, turns, mind games and double-crosses.
If you’re a Soderbergh fan, you might also want to check out another of his movies, soon to be on Sky Cinema: haunted house chiller Presence, which is filmed entirely from the ghost’s perspective.
A little more heavy on the special effects, although still tackling some weighty ideas, is Mickey 17, the new film by Parasite and Snowpiercer director Bong Joon Ho. This is an absurdist sci-fi comedy about a lowly maintenance worker (played by Robert Pattinson), who is cloned every time he’s killed in an accident.
Dripping with Bong’s trademark brand of off-kilter humour, and delving into some interesting themes of authoritarianism and corporate greed, this is exactly the kind of satirical fever dream you’d expect from the eccentric filmmaker.
Family-friendly

Of course, Sky Cinema has the little ones covered, too! There are plenty of exciting family-friendly films coming up in the next few months.
Just in time for Halloween comes Grow, a whimsical comedy about a green-thumbed girl who, along with her grumpy aunt, participates in a pumpkin growing competition. It’s packed with recognisable British faces - like Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz) and Golda Rosheuvel (Bridgerton) - and has strong themes of family and acceptance.
Plus really big pumpkins!
But the biggest kid-friendly event of the season has to be the release of Dog Man, a comic animated caper based on the mega-popular series of graphic novels by Dav Pilkey. The titular superhero - a fusion of supercop Officer Knight and his faithful pooch Greg - must take on the devious Petey the Cat to save Ohkay City.
Hidden gems

It’s not all blockbusters and buzzy Oscar contenders - Sky Cinema gets a lot of smaller hidden gems, too. Movies that might have flown under the radar a bit; word-of-mouth hits or future cult classics.
A prime example is Drop, a tense tech-savvy thriller starring Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus) and Brandon Sklenar (1923). Fahy plays Violet, a therapist who is tentatively taking her first steps into the world of dating after the death of her abusive husband.
Unfortunately for Violet, a mysterious person begins AirDropping messages onto her phone, threatening to murder her young son if she doesn’t kill her date. It’s a twisty thrill-ride that’ll have you questioning everything - and have you on the edge of your seat by the end.
Releasing on Halloween is another brilliantly unpredictable tech thriller, this time with a distinctly science fiction edge: Companion. The less said about the plot of this one the better, but it’s ostensibly about a couple who go to visit friends for the weekend.
Secrets, lies, betrayals and, yes, murder ensue.
It’s got a great cast of up-and-coming talent, including Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets) and Jack Quaid (The Boys), and is perfect of puzzlebox thrillers like Barbarian or Weapons.
