Gallagher Premiership on TV: How to watch the Playoffs and Final

Twickenham beckons…

The 2023/24 Gallagher Premiership season is drawing to a close, but with two games remaining until the playoffs, there is still time for things to be shaken up.

Seven of the 10 teams are still in the hunt for a playoff spot and the final games this month will decide the four who will get the chance to go to Twickenham and lift the trophy.

With plenty of action still to play and an exciting play-off period coming, you’ll want to know where you can see it all. Find out how you can watch the Gallagher Premiership on TV, including the play-offs and the final.

How to watch the Gallagher Premiership on TV

There are two channels that show Gallagher Premiership fixtures live, although one shows a lot more than the other.

TNT Sports is the main broadcast, as they have been for the last eleven years, while ITV also shows seven games live on their free-to-air channel.

TNT Sports will have hosted a total of 56 games across the season at the end of the year, including the playoffs and the final.

Highlights of each weekend’s games are also shown on ITV, while TNT Sports shows extended highlights of the fixtures.

A new deal extension was reached in March this year that will see TNT Sports remain as the home of the Gallagher Premiership, even giving them more matches than ever before.

For the 2024/25 season, TNT Sports will show every game of the competition live - that’s all 93 matches including the play-offs and final - on TNT Sports and Discovery+. It also sees them continue to host select games from the Premiership Rugby Cup.

Will the Gallagher Premiership final be on ITV?

The Gallagher Premiership final will be broadcast live on ITV as well as on TNT Sports, following on from last season where this was introduced.

This is part of the current broadcast deal; however, with that expiring after this season and the TNT Sports extension giving them more games than ever for next season, it is unknown if the 2024/25 Gallagher Premiership will be shown live on ITV.

Gallagher Premiership 2023/24 results: The story so far

Two games remain in the 2023/24 Gallagher Premiership season and no team has earned a place in the playoffs yet as only 10 points separates first and seventh.

The Northampton Saints currently occupy the top spot, as they have done since round 10, with 11 wins and five losses. Their star man so far has been winger Ollie Sleightholme, who leads the league in tries scored with 11.

The Bristol Bears have been the best-scoring team this year. The Bears have scored 71 tries this year, the most in the league so far, and have the best points differential with +140. However, this is only good enough to see them in fourth place, six points back from the Saints.

In between the two currently sits Saracens in second with 51 points and Bath in third with 50.

At the opposite end of the table, the Newcastle Falcons occupy the bottom spot with a lowly five points and a grand points differential of -327. They are still searching for their first win in the league this year, but with only two games remaining, time is running out.

Gloucester will be missing out on the chance to do the double this season. Having won the in-season Premiership Rugby Cup and a promising start that saw them up as high as third in the table, they went on a nine-game losing streak that saw them drop to ninth in the table with only 27 points so far.

Gallagher Premiership 2023/24 table

As usual, the top four teams in the table at the end of the season will go through to the play-offs.

The next four (fifth-eighth) will earn a place in next season's European Rugby Champions Cup, the top-tier European club competition.

The team that finishes ninth will earn a place in the EPCR Challenge Cup, the second-tier European club competition.

The team at the bottom of the table will play a playoff game with that season's RFU Championship winner (second-tier English domestic competition, subject to eligibility) to decide who gets the final place in the Premiership for next season and a spot in the EPCR Challenge Cup.
