What is Sky On Demand?
Sky On Demand is Sky's internet-based video on-demand service which is available with every one of their TV packages at no extra cost and features an absolutely huge selection of both new and classic movies and TV shows.
How do I watch Sky On Demand?
In order to enjoy Sky On Demand's fantastic range of content you first need to connect your Sky box up to your Sky Broadband (or whichever type of internet you've got) using either an ethernet cable or your own wi-fi network. Although ethernet is technically the faster option, Sky have stated that On Demand only needs a minimum of 2Mbps to begin successfully downloading content so your wi-fi should easily be up to the task.
With an ethernet cable, you'll need to physically run the cable from the ethernet port on the back of your Sky box to the ethernet port on the back of your router. Setting up Sky On Demand to be used over wi-fi is just as simple, but what you've got to do will depend on which Sky box you've got.
A standard Sky Q box or a Sky+ HD box without the WPS symbol on the front can be connected up by navigating through the main Sky menu to setting > network where you'll find the name of your router. Select that, then choose the connect with password option and enter your router password to get linked up.
If your Sky+ HD box has the WPS symbol on the front, you should first press the same button on your router and hold it down for two to three seconds. Within a minute of letting go, press the same button on your Sky box. An amber light will flash as it's searching for a connection and change to steady once it's online.
What can I watch on Sky On Demand?
Sky On Demand's content can be separated into four different categories which you'll able to find on your main Sky home page. Due to certain contractual agreements, not all of the content shown on Sky will be available to view on-demand.
Catch Up TV includes a whole range of third party catch-up services like BBC iPlayer alongside a smaller collection of content from premium Sky channels like Sky Atlantic and Fox. All of the content featured under this header will only be from the past thirty days.
In the Sky Store, you can either rent or buy a huge selection of movies and TV shows from the newest blockbuster releases to classic favourites. New titles are constantly being added so there's sure to be plenty that you'll love.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to access either Sky Cinema or the box sets unless you've paid the extra subscription fee or got the Box Set bundle.
Sky Cinema features over 1,000 different movies for you to choose from with new titles being added every single day and HD as standard at no extra cost. The Box Set bundle is any binge watchers dream with over 200 fantastic box sets from all kinds of different genres and time periods for you to enjoy.
