What is available on Discovery+? | What’s on offer & questions answered

More to the service than its sports offerings…

Discovery+ is a streaming service like the rest but many people don’t seem to hold it in as high regard as the likes of Netflix and Disney+.

While it certainly is a different offering than the aforementioned services, Discovery+ has a lot of bingeable content than you may realise. And better yet, you may even have a Discovery+ subscription already that you can start making the most of following this guide.

If that isn’t the case or if you’re simply interested in learning more about what is available on Discovery+, we’re here to let you know what you can indulge in plus answers to some of the most asked questions about the service.

Sports on Discovery+

Most people may know Discovery+ more for the sports they have on offer. When BT Group entered a joint venture with Warner Bros. Discovery and rebranded BT Sport to TNT Sports, they became committed to growing their sports offerings and rival Sky Sports in the UK for content.

They also wanted to provide a platform that made it easier to access their range of available sports, be that live coverage or catch-up. That’s where Discovery+ came in.

Warner Bros. Discovery already had Eurosport content, who’s major sports coverage was the Olympics (and subsequent Winter Olympics and Paralympics). Combining that with BT Sport’s wide range of content and putting it all together on Discovery+ means they have a unique service that other streaming providers essentially aim to have.

Netflix have begun branching into the live sport game this year, while Prime Video have been at it for a couple of years already. But neither can hold a flame to what Discovery+ has to offer.

A quick list of the sports and major events that is found on Discovery+ includes:

  • Premier League football(52 games a season including Saturday early kickoffs)
  • UEFA Competitions (exclusive rights to Champions League, Europa League and Conference League)
  • Cricket including The Ashes (plus exclusive rights to all red-ball and white-ball international series played in India and New Zealand)
  • Cycling including Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espana (plus Tour de France from 2026)
  • Tennis Grand Slams (Australian Open and Roland Garros)
  • 2026 Winter Olympics and 2028 Summer Olympics
  • FIA World Endurance Racing (WEC)
  • Gallagher Premiership Rugby
  • MotoGP and World Superbikes
  • Formula E
  • NBA
  • MLB
  • UFC

Those are just a few of the bigger events you can watch on Discovery+, but they also do host broadcasts for some more niche sports such as athletics, snooker, Aussie Rules Football (AFL), and winter sports such as biathlon and cross-country skiing.

You’ll also find some events on Pay-Per-View, such as boxing, where you can purchase the event and gain access via Discovery+.

On top of live events, you can also find replays of previous events, pre-event and highlight shows, documentaries and various other shows featuring hosts from some of the major sports.

Entertainment on Discovery+

Discovery+ has a lot more to offer than people realise away from the sports. They don’t have the same offerings like Netflix, with movies galore across all sorts of genres, but what Discovery+ specialises in is the sort of programming that you may not expect to love.

What we mean by that is they have the sort of shows you may only come across when you’re scrolling through the channels on TV and randomly put something on, only to find out you actually love it!

Contained on Discovery+ is shows from across a range of channels that fall under the Warner Bros. Discovery umbrella. This includes TLC, Quest, Really and Food Network.

These channels, which feature mainly American programming, contains a lot of reality TV shows, but not in the Keeping Up With the Kardashians sense, but rather reality shows where the main theme isn’t something you would imagine could be made interesting, but is in fact enthralling and absolutely captivating.

It also contains an extensive collection of documentaries covering topics like nature, science, and history, making it a treasure trove for those curious about the world.

Examples of these sorts of shows and documentaries includes:

  • Man vs Food with Adam Richman
  • How the Universe Works
  • Say Yes to The Dress
  • 90 Day Fiance UK
  • Temptation Island
  • Deadliest Catch
  • My 600-lb Life
  • Fast N’ Loud
  • Gold Rush
  • Cake Boss

Those are just a few examples of what you can find. It’s an expansive range of shows and documentaries just like them.

There’s programming for the crime lovers, which has seen an incredible rise in viewership over the last few years.

Sci-Fi fans have plenty to choose from; from secrets of space and our planet to aliens and conspiracy theories, there’s something to choose from that covers it all.

You may have seen many of the shows through clips on social media like TikTok. Certain clips that have a more sensationalised theme are used by random accounts to grab people’s attention, and then what you’ll see is plenty of comments asking where it came from. If the clip is of a reality show nature, there’s a good chance you can find it on Discovery+.
