Big Little Lies creator and Watchmen star team up for Netflix series
David E. Kelley will write and serve as showrunner on this adaptation of A Man in Full with Regina King to direct the first three episodes.
Big Little Lies creator David E. Kelley and Watchmen’s Regina King are to adapt Tom Wolfe’s A Man in Full for Netflix.
The streaming giant has handed a straight-to-series order for the project which will consist of six hour-long episodes.
The 1998 novel, Wolfe’s second after the bestselling Bonfire of the Vanities, revolves around a wealthy real estate broker named Charlie Croker in the US city of Atlanta.
“The limited series will follow Charlie as he faces sudden bankruptcy, and political and business interests collide when he defends his empire from those trying to capitalize on his fall from grace,” reads the official plot synopsis.
Kelley will both write the series and serve as showrunner whilst King will direct the first three episodes. She’ll also executive produce under her Royal Ties company with Matthew Tinker.
“A passion project for me, no doubt,” said Kelley. “The opportunity to tackle Tom Wolfe’s brilliant and prescient novel, to have Regina helming — I could not be more excited.”
“All I can say is when David E. Kelley calls, you just say yes. I know this partnership will produce something special.” added King.
