Netflix's Cursed cancelled after one season
The show has lived up to its name.
Medieval fantasy drama Cursed has been cancelled by Netflix.
While nothing has been officially confirmed, it’s thought that the streaming giant’s decision to pull the plug is down to the show not pulling in the viewership numbers they hoped for.
Based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler, Cursed is a retelling of the Arthurian legend from the point of view of troubled outcast Nimue (Katherine Langford) who’s destined to become The Lady of the Lake.
When the terrifying Red Paladins attack her village, she’s tasked with delivering the legendary sword of power to the wizard Merlin (Vikings’ Gustaf Skarsgård) with the help of young sellsword Arthur (Devon Terrell).
Daniel Sharman, Sebastian Armesto, Peter Mullan, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Bella Dayne and Matt Stokoe also star.
Wheeler served as showrunner with directing duties shared out amongst Zetna Fuentes, Daniel Nettheim, Jon East and Sarah O'Gorman.
Netflix has confirmed that they’ve released all of the cast from their contracts meaning it’s far less likely that it’ll be picked up by another network or service.
This cancellation comes despite Cursed receiving mixed to positive reviews from critics and fans alike. It currently stands at 67% on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes with a slightly lower audience score of 53%.
You can stream Cursed’s one and only season on Netflix now.
