Disney+ renews Loki for season 2
Fans will be thankful that its major cliffhanger will be resolved.
Marvel has confirmed that Loki will return for a second season on Disney+.
The announcement came during the post-credits scene in yesterday’s (June 14th) finale via a card which simply read “Loki will return in season 2.”
Given how this first outing ended with Sylvie/Lady Loki (Sophia Di Martino) inadvertently creating multiple timelines, pretty much anything is possible in terms of plot for this second lot of episodes.
While nothing’s been confirmed, Ravonna (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Hunter B-15 (Wumi Mosaku) could all return alongside Di Martino and Tom Hiddleston as the titular trickster god.
According to Polygon, a trusted source has also said that Michael Waldron is expected to once again serve as showrunner.
Loki is the first of the exclusive Disney+ Marvel series to take the form of an ongoing series. The entertainment giant has previously stated that its first two, WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will both remain as one-off miniseries.
There’s currently no indication of when Loki will return but there’s plenty more new Marvel content to look forward to on Disney+.
Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel, which follows superpowered teenage Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), are due to hit the platform later this year.
Scheduled for sometime in 2022 is She-Hulk starring Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany as Bruce Banner’s cousin who’s able to retain control when she transforms and Moon Knight with Oscar Isaac as a vigilante with the power of the ancient Egyptian god Khonshu.
You can stream all episodes of Loki’s first season on Disney+ now.
