First trailer for Disney+'s Ms Marvel series
The show will introduce teenage superhero Kamala Khan who gains powers similar to that of Captain Marvel.
Disney+ has released the first trailer for its upcoming Ms. Marvel series.
The show stars newcomer Iman Vellani as geeky teenager Kamala Khan who daydreams of becoming a superhero like her idol Captain Marvel (Brie Larson).
We’re not shown how, but at some point she too gains cosmic superpowers which means she’s able to do things like shoot blasts of energy and create a giant extending fist.
It’s also not yet clear who will serve as the villain of the series but we’re shown four figures mysteriously shrouded in smoke which suggests she’ll be up against more than one bad guy.
The six episode series was written by Bisha K. Ali whose previous credits include Hulu’s recent TV adaptation of Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Directing duties will be shared out amongst Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Meera Manon and Bad Boys For Life’s Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
Kamala Khan/Ms Marvel is a relatively new addition to the comic book giant’s cannon having first been introduced in Captain Marvel #14 back in August 2013.
After headlining this Disney+ series, she’s also set to appear in Captain Marvel 2 alongside Larson and Teyonah Parris’s Monica Rambeau which will hit cinemas in February 2023.
Ms. Marvel will premiere on 8th June 2022 exclusively on Disney+.
