God of War series reportedly in development at Amazon
The hit video game is set in world of Norse mythology.
Amazon Prime is reportedly in talks to develop a live-action adaptation of the critically-acclaimed 2018 Playstation game God of War.
According to Deadline, the series will hail from Mark Fergus and Hawk Otsby who created sci-fi drama The Expanse and The Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins.
Sony Pictures Television and Playstation Productions will also be onboard as they collaborate on every project that’s adapted from a Playstation game.
The 2018 God of War is the latest instalment in the overall franchise which first launched on the Playstation 2 back in 2005.
It served as both a sequel and reimagining, seeing the troubled Spartan warrior Kratos now in the world of Norse mythology on a quest alongside his young son Atreus.
The game was universally beloved by critics and fans alike and went onto win the prestigious Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2018.
If God of War is greenlit by Amazon it’ll join another high profile video game adaptation. Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are working on a Fallout series for the streamer which is set to star Walter Goggins in a lead role.
A TV adaptation of the equally acclaimed Playstation game The Last of Us starring Game of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey is also in development at HBO.
