Noah Hawley reveals more plot details about Alien TV series
Sigourney Weaver will not be reprising her role as Ripley.
Noah Hawley has shared new details about the plot of his eagerly-anticipated Alien TV series.
During an interview with Vanity Fair, he confirmed that Sigourney Weaver’s popular character Ripley will not be the main focus of the show or even feature in it all.
“She’s one of the great characters of all time, and I think the story has been told pretty perfectly, and I don’t want to mess with it,” he explained.
Hawley also stated the series, which currently doesn’t have a title, will take place on earth for the first time in the franchise's history.
“The alien stories are always trapped…Trapped in a prison, trapped in a spaceship.”
“I thought it would be interesting to open it up a little bit so that the stakes of “What happens if you can’t contain it?” are more immediate.”
While he didn’t reveal an exact episode count, the Fargo creator said that he’s finished the scripts for two of them and is hoping to begin production next spring.
This Alien project was first announced in December 2020 with Ridley Scott attached to produce and will be the seventh entry into the franchise.
An eighth is also separately in development as a third film sequel to 2017’s Alien: Covenant with Scott once again directing.
