“Hey Percy Jackson fans, for the past decade, you’ve worked hard to champion a faithful on-screen adaptation of Percy Jackson’s world. Some of you have even suggested it would be a great series for Disney Plus. We couldn’t agree more!” he wrote.
“We can’t say much more at this stage but we are very excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality, following the storyline of the original Percy Jackson five-book series, starting with The Lightning Thief in season one.”
The best-selling series of young adult novels follows the adventures of the titular 12-year-old demigod as he sets out to prevent a war between the Greek gods.
Riordan confirmed that he would be involved in every aspect of the upcoming series after having previously been quite vocal about his disappointment with the two film adaptations released in 2010 and 2013 respectively.
As you might expect from a project in such an early stage, any cast members or a director has yet to be found.
