Phoebe Waller-Bridge departs Mr and Mrs Smith series
The original 2005 film is perhaps best known for its stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's behind-the-scenes romance.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge has exited Amazon’s upcoming Mr and Mrs Smith series.
The Fleabag creator was set to star opposite Donald Glover in a TV reboot of the hit 2005 film which starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as a married couple who are secretly both assassins trying to kill each other.
Her departure was reportedly down to “creative differences” but multiple sources close to the project have told Variety that it was amicable.
Despite this significant change, Mr and Mrs Smith is still in active development with scripts being written and production set to begin next year.
Glover is still onboard to play the male lead and the streaming giant is currently searching for a new female star.
The rapper-turned-actor created the project with Francesca Sloane who will also serve as showrunner. A director or other cast members have yet to be announced.
The original film was directed by Doug Liman and while it received mixed reviews from critics, it was a box office success grossing $487.3 million against its $110 million budget.
