Your Honor renewed for season 2
It was initially planned as a limited series but its impressive ratings opened the door for more.
US network Showtime has renewed Your Honor for a second season.
Originally conceived as a limited series adaptation of the Israeli drama Kvodo, the show’s incredibly high ratings have made Showtime rethink their decision.
Your Honor pulled in 6.6 million weekly viewers making it the network’s most-watched debut season ever and is also currently its most-watched TV series ever.
This second season will consist of ten episodes and see Bryan Cranston reprise his role as New Orleans judge Michael Desiato.
Peter Moffat, who previously developed the acclaimed miniseries The Night Of for HBO, is also set to return as showrunner and will again write multiple episodes.
The first season, which received mostly positive reviews from critics, saw Desiato work to cover up his son Adam’s (Hunter Doohan) hit-and-run after they find out he killed the son of a powerful local crime boss (Michael Stuhlbarg).
“We were blown away by Your Honor … by the power of Peter’s storytelling, by the depth of Bryan’s performance, and by the overwhelming reaction from our subscribers who watched in record numbers,” said Gary Levine, President of Entertainment at Showtime.
“Imagine our delight when we learned that Peter believed he had more story to tell and Bryan felt he had more depths to plumb. So, along with its millions of fans, I am gleefully shouting ‘Encore!’
