Christmas crackers: Highlight fixtures
Amongst all these games, there are a few matches that need to be picked out as must-watch affairs.
Be it a six-pointer between two teams vying for the same spot or a simple derby match, here are our picks for the festive periods’ best games.
Liverpool vs Arsenal, Saturday 23rd December
Matchday 18 will feature this heavyweight clash between two sides who are vying to dethrone Manchester City this season.
Anfield will be the stage as last season's runners-up Arsenal visit Merseyside to take on Jurgen Klopp and his impressive Liverpool side.
With how the season has been going so far, a loss for either one could see them stumble down the order slightly depending on other results, while a win will do wonders for the other’s title campaign, so expect to see both sides going for all the marbles.
Manchester United vs Aston Villa, Tuesday 26th December
Manchester United have struggled to find any sort of consistency all season long so they will not like it when they come up against one of the most in-form teams in the league right now in Aston Villa.
Things may be different by the time the game rolls around, but that could only add to the intensity that should come with the fixture.
Everton vs Manchester City, Wednesday 27th December
It’s a battle between the team that has been punished against the team that should be punished.
This may seem like a rogue pick, but if these two sides carry on the way they are at the current moment of writing, this could indeed be a tasty affair.
Everton are seemingly playing with a vendetta against the league while Man City don’t quite look like the same treble-winning team of last year. Will Everton continue their charge or will this be the game City kick things back into gear?
Arsenal vs West Ham, Thursday 28th December
An all-London affair as West Ham travels roughly five miles from the London Stadium to the Emirates to face Arsenal.
The Hammers have already got the better of their opponents this season, knocking out the Gunners in the EFL Cup Round of 16 in November.
However, in league competition, Arsenal are unbeaten against West Ham since January 2019, and unbeaten against them at the Emirates since August 2015. Will that streak continue?
Liverpool vs Newcastle, Monday 1st January
The first Premier League match of the new year will be a banger, pitting Liverpool against Newcastle in a
