How to watch the 2024 NFL season in the UK
The road to the Super Bowl begins…
A new NFL season is upon us, bringing the hard-hitting action to our screens every week right up until February.
With the first game of the new campaign kicking off tonight, we’re taking a look at the season ahead, providing the needed information to keep you informed, including how to watch the 2024 NFL season in the UK.
How to watch NFL in the UK
Let’s answer that straight away. The NFL is growing in popularity in the UK and Europe so more and more fans are tuning in each week, either to watch their side or just as a general fan of the sport and league.
Lucky for us across the pond from where the action happens most of the year, the majority of the games each week are played on Sundays, starting from midday from midday their time and running until the evening.
With the time difference, it means the first games get underway each Sunday at around 6pm, giving us a full evening of NFL football to enjoy!
Sky Sports is the home of the NFL in the UK, having been so since 1995, and in recent years has expanded its coverage to show the Thursday night and Monday night games as well as two Sunday fixtures, all live.
As well as the live games, you’ll be able to tune into NFL Red Zone on Sundays, which goes between all the live games so you’re always watching the action.
NFL on Sky Sports
Sky Sports being the only place to watch the NFL in the UK means you’ll need to be sorted with an applicable Sky Sports subscription.
Don’t forget, Sky Sports has a lot more to offer than just the NFL, with exclusive broadcasting rights to the EFL, Formula 1 and PGA Tour golf, plus the majority of Premier League football can be found on their channels.
Whether you’re a new or existing customer, there are various ways you can get the right subscription.
For existing customers, if you don’t already have Sky Sports but are interested in adding it to be able to watch the NFL and/or any of the other sports on offer, you can simply add it to your existing Sky TV package via a 24-month contract (paid monthly) or a 31-day rolling contract (cancel any time).
For new customers or Sky customers without Sky TV, you can get a great package deal that provides everything you’d need. In this case, you’d want one that includes Sky Sports, but if you were looking to switch broadband providers as well, there are packages that put them all together.
Better yet, oftentimes you’ll find great deals on the Sky Sports packages, providing great value for money! Be sure to check out the Sky deals available here on Digital TV.
If you’re with a different TV provider, you may still be able to gain access to Sky TV, including Sky Sports.
Sky Sports on NOW TV
NOW TV offers a Sports Membership that gives you full access to Sky Sports for the duration of your membership.
With NOW TV, you can choose between a Day Membership, a Flexible Month Membership and a 12-Month Saver Membership.
The Day Membership speaks for itself, granting access to the 12 Sky Sports channels for 24 hours as a one-off purchase.
The Flexible Month Membership is a 31-day rolling membership with no contract that allows you to cancel whenever you’d like.
The 12-Month Saver Membership locks you in for a year, paying the same monthly price and giving access to Sky Sports for its entirety. The only downside to this option is that it is the only one on a contract, so you can’t cancel anytime within the 12 months without paying a fee.
Sky Sports on BT & Virgin Media
Both BT and Virgin Media have several packages that include Sky Sports or it can be added to a package.
For existing customers without it, you can also add it whenever you’d like on a 31-day rolling contract.
2024 NFL season preview
The 2024 NFL season is shaping up to be an exciting and highly competitive campaign, with several teams positioning themselves as legitimate contenders for the Super Bowl. Defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs will once again be the team to beat as they aim to become the first three-peat champions in NFL history.
That’s a lot easier said than done though, as they will face stern opposition from many in the AFC, such as the Buffalo Bills, who will be hoping franchise star Josh Allen will finally be able to take them to the promised land of the Super Bowl, and the 2022 Super Bowl finalists Cincinnati Bengals.
The same can be said over in the NFC though, with strong competition coming from the last two Super Bowl runners-up, the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles. Both boast stellar defences and a capable offence to match.
But many other teams will be looking to improve their fortunes from the last few years. The New York Jets with a now healthy again Aaron Rodgers will surely be aiming for success, as will be his former team, the Green Bay Packers, who may just make the jump to become a proper contender this year.
As for standout players, the usual suspects are currently the early favourites for MVP - Patrick Mahomes sits at the top, but closely behind are the likes of Allen, Jalen Hurts, Joe Burrow and CJ Stroud.
2024 NFL fixtures: Week one
The opening week will see a first for the league, with the Green Bay Packers taking on the Philadelphia Eagles in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the first NFL regular season game to be played in South America.
It will all kick off tonight with the defending champions Chiefs hosting fellow Super Bowl hopefuls Baltimore Ravens.
Monday Night Football is sure to be an interesting affair, with Rodgers making his long-awaited return to the field as his Jets side takes on last year's runners-up the 49ers at Levi Stadium. In between those games will be the usual slate of Sunday games.
