How to watch Super Bowl LX in the UK: TV channels & more info

The biggest game of the year is here.

18 weeks of the regular season plus three weeks of playoffs has led us to this, the big game - Super Bowl LX.

Grumble all you want about who is involved, the game will go on, so if you’re interested in watching or want to know any more information about the fixture, read on to get informed.

How to watch Super Bowl LX in the UK

The Super Bowl has long been shown live in the UK, as has the whole NFL season that year, but unlike the regular season and other playoff games, the Super Bowl each year is shown not just behind a paywall but also on free-to-air TV.

Super Bowl LX will be available to watch via Sky Sports or for free on ITV.

NFL on Sky Sports

Sky Sports had held the rights to the NFL since 1995, showing live games plus highlights and other shows surrounding the action each week.

Since 2019, Sky has obtained more exclusive broadcasting rights for several key games, including the two London Games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as well as the playoffs, which were previously also available on BBC Sport, like with the Super Bowl.

If you’re interested in watching the NFL, be it for the Super Bowl via Sky Sports or ready for next season, you’ll need a valid Sky Sports subscription.

New customers can obtain this via a pre-made package that puts together Sky TV and Sky Sports, sometimes with other services such as broadband, although you can choose the package with the inclusions you want/need.

You can also simply add it on to a different package, with the option of a 31 day rolling contract or a 24 month contract.

As for existing customers without Sky Sports, it can be added to your Sky TV package via the add ons, with the same choice shown above available.

Super Bowl LX on ITV

As mentioned, Super Bowl LX will be available to watch on free-to-air ITV as well as on Sky.

Before Super Bowl LIV in 2021, BBC held the free-to-air rights to the big game. However, since then ITV took over and has hosted the Super Bowl on their channels ITV1, STV and UTV, as well on the ITVX and STV Player streaming services.

BBC will have the radio rights, though, allowing you to listen on BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Sport Online and BBC Sounds, as well as via talkSPORT.

When is Super Bowl LX?

Super Bowl LX will be going down on Sunday 8th February 2026.

What time does Super Bowl LX start?

Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30pm local time, which will be 11:30pm GMT. Typical NFL games last between two to three hours, but with all the spectacle of this game and the likelihood of it being a tightly-fought battle, it will likely go on until 3:30am-4am GMT.

Where is Super Bowl LX?

Super Bowl LX will be played at Levi’s Stadium located in Santa Clara, California, home of the San Francisco 49ers.

This will be only the second Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium, the first coming 10 years ago at Super Bowl 50, where the Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers 24-10

Who is in Super Bowl LX?

Fans who watched the NFL through the 2010s may be fearing the sight of two of that decades’ best franchises returning to the promised land after a fairly brief spell of mediocrity, as the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks look to compete for the top prize.

The Pats and the Hawks did battle once before in the big game at Super Bowl XLIX in 2015 in a contest that is still remembered well to this day.

Bill Belichick vs Pete Carrol. Tom Brady vs Russell Wilson. Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski providing the options for Brady, while Wilson had “Beast Mode” Marshawn Lynch alongside him in the backfield.

But more importantly, both had formidable defences, in particular Hall of Famer Darrelle Revis for the Pats, while Seattle had the iconic “Legion of Boom”, highlighted by Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor.

It was a tight affair throughout the game, being kept within a one-possession margin until the Seahawks took a 10-point lead in the third quarter - only for the Patriots to turn it around and score 14 consecutive points to lead 28-24 with a little over two minutes remaining.

On 2nd & Goal with under 30 seconds on the clock and only one yard for the probable Super Bowl-winning touchdown, rather than handing the ball off to Lynch for the sure-fire score, Wilson dropped back and threw it, only for the pass to be intercepted by Malcolm Butler to seal the win for the Patriots in what is simultaneously known as one of the best plays of all time coupled with one of the worst play calls of all time from the Seahawks.

Now, 11 years on, the two franchises are ready to run it back. Both sides finished the season 14-3.

Seattle Seahawks route to the Super Bowl

Seattle made a lot of moves in the offseason in the hopes of making the jump to reach the playoffs. Sam Darnold stepped in to replace Geno Smith at quarterback, while Cooper Kupp joined as an exciting receiving option from the Los Angeles Rams.

While they aimed for at least the playoffs, no one could have expected how much they would improve this year. Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the biggest surprise, emerging as a premiere threat at wide receiver, breaking the Seahawks’ single-season receiving yards record of 1303 - he had 1793 yards.

Their defence also clicked more thanks to Mike Macdonald’s expertise as the Head Coach and former Defensive Coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens. They went from just above par to a defence so formidable, they earned the nickname “Dark Side”.

They finished the regular season with a 14-3 record, including a seven-game winning streak to end the campaign with the first seed, giving them a bye through the Wildcard round of the playoffs.

They started out their playoffs by thumping the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional game 41-6, then proceeded to defeat the Los Angeles Rams 31-27 in a third thrilling matchup between the two this year during the NFC Championship.

The Seahawks have been one of the more exciting teams all year and head into the big game as the favourites.

New England Patriots route to the Super Bowl

The Patriots dynasty may well and truly be back, with young quarterback Drake “Drake Maye” Maye looking to follow in the footsteps of legends of prior eras, no more so than the greatest to ever do it, Tom Brady.

Mike Vrabel returned to his home where he won three Super Bowls during his playing time as a linebacker, this time as the Head Coach. In just one year, he has turned the Patriots from a rebuilding side stirring in mediocrity back into an NFC giant - by week 11, they had guaranteed more wins in the campaign than they had in the past two combined.

A good many moves were made in the offseason to build the winning team we see now.  A notable signing was former first-team All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills.

Their defence was also known as one of the best, mainly against the run game which helped against many of the sides they faced.

Speaking of, while the Pats were certainly impressive throughout the year, they have drawn some scepticism from fans as to their true strength, owing to their easier schedule - the second easiest schedule not in the league this year, but since league realignment in 2002.

They only faced three opponents with winning records in the regular season - Pittsburgh Steelers once, which they lost, and the Buffalo Bills twice, which they split 1-1.

Regardless, they still finished 14-3 on the year which was enough to earn them the second seed in the AFC.

In the Wildcard round, they dispatched the Los Angeles Chargers 16-3 before moving on to the Houston Texans in the Divisional round. It was billed as a defensive showdown, and there were a good many turnovers indeed - most of which coming from opposing quarterback CJ Stroud. The Pats would roll on to the AFC Championship with a 28-16 win over the Texans.

In the AFC Championship game, the Pats faced a similar foe in the Denver Broncos, who like themselves had a young QB and a sturdy defence, although it was dampened when the Broncos starting QB Bo Nix was ruled out due to an injury sustained in their previous clash.

The game started with nerves seemingly from both sides and the score stayed close. But then it opened up - and by it, I mean the heavens. Snow fell hard and fast, and suddenly it became a game of survival. In the end, it was the Patriots who claimed victory by a single field goal, 10-7.

Who is playing the Super Bowl LX halftime show?

The halftime show is a main event in itself, with many people tuning in purely for it (and the gloriously expensive ads that came alongside the show).

This year, three-time Grammy Award-winner and Latin music star Bad Bunny will be performing.

Who won the Super Bowl last year?

Super Bowl LIX emanated from Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, where the world watched on in amazement as the Philadelphia Eagles sensationally took down the defending back-to-back champs the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22.

While the score is certainly large still, don’t let it fool you - the Chiefs never had a sniff at becoming the first three-peat champions. The Eagles were up 34-6 heading into the fourth quarter - a lead that not even Brady would’ve been able to overturn.
